Aviation Fuel Shortages

Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East, it is possible that we will see flight disruption because of fuel shortages. Coverage for cancellation and disruption caused by any fuel shortages will apply in line with normal cancellation and trip disruption cover. For the most comprehensive protection, you should ensure you’ve taken our optional Trip Disruption Cover.

For single trips and annual multi-trip policies:

You are covered for the costs of cancelling your trip if, on the day you're due to depart, your flight is delayed or cancelled and no suitable alternative is provided within 12 hours of the scheduled time of departure.

If you have our OPTIONAL Trip Disruption Cover:

You are additionally covered for:

1. Reasonable additional accommodation and public-transport travel expenses to continue your trip if, on the day you're due to depart, your flight is delayed or cancelled and no suitable alternative is provided within 12 hours of the scheduled time of departure.

2. The cost of cancelling your trip if, within 7 days of your original planned departure, your flight is rearranged by the airline such that you miss 50% or more of your trip.

The above cover is subject to the limits of the cover level you've chosen and the terms and conditions of your policy. For example, your reasonable additional accommodation and public-transport travel expenses are covered up to the standard of your original booking. For backpacking policies:

If you hold a backpacking policy, the rules and terms may differ depending on the circumstances surrounding your claim. If you require any further information, please contact our Sales and Support team.

How your airline covers you:

If your airline changes your flight or cancels it less than 14 days in advance of your trip, then for most flights to or from the UK the following rules apply:

If these changes result in a delay of less than 4 hours, your airline will not be required to provide any compensation.
