Yes. You can purchase CoverForYou travel insurance if you're living in the UK on a visa, provided you meet our residency, GP registration and visa validity requirements.
You do not need to be a British citizen to qualify for cover.
What are the eligibility requirements?
To purchase a policy while living in the UK on a visa, you must meet all three of the following conditions:
1. Your main home must be in the UK
The United Kingdom must be your main, permanent place of residence at the time you purchase your policy.
Eligible: Foreign nationals living in the UK whose main home is established here.
Not eligible: Temporary visitors or people working in the UK whose main permanent home remains overseas.
2. You must be registered with a UK GP
You must be registered with a UK general practitioner (GP).
Being able to access NHS services or having paid the Immigration Health Surcharge does not, on its own, replace the requirement to be registered with a UK GP.
3. Your visa must remain valid for at least six months after your policy ends
Your current UK visa must be valid for at least six months beyond your travel insurance policy's expiry date.
For example:
Policy expiry date: 31 December 2026
Minimum visa expiry date: 30 June 2027
If your visa expires before the required date, you will not meet our eligibility requirements.
What if my visa is due to expire or be renewed?
If your current visa does not meet the six-month validity requirement, please contact us before purchasing your policy.
We can explain the eligibility criteria, but we cannot provide immigration advice or guarantee eligibility based on a pending visa renewal.
Need help confirming your eligibility?
If you're unsure whether your residency or visa arrangements meet our requirements, please contact CoverForYou before purchasing your policy.
Please note: All cover is subject to your policy's eligibility requirements, terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and any applicable excess.
