How Does Annual Multi-Trip Automatic Renewal Work?

Find out when your Annual Multi-Trip renewal is offered, how automatic payments work, how to opt out and what you should review before renewing.

How does Annual Multi-Trip automatic renewal work?

Your CoverForYou Annual Multi-Trip policy can renew automatically each year.

If automatic renewal is enabled, we'll contact you before your current policy ends and attempt to collect the renewal premium using the payment authority held for your policy.

Your renewal invitation will confirm your new premium and give you an opportunity to check that your details and cover are still correct.

When will I receive my renewal notice?

We'll email you at least 21 days before the end of your current policy.

Your renewal invitation allows you to:

  • Review your renewal premium and policy terms.

  • Check your personal details.

  • Review your medical information.

  • Check your level of cover and optional upgrades.

  • Make any necessary changes.

  • Tell us if you do not want to renew.

You should check the information in your renewal invitation carefully before your new policy begins.

Can I renew earlier?

We may be able to offer a renewal up to 3 months before your policy expires.

If you need to renew early, please contact CoverForYou to discuss the available options.

When will my automatic renewal payment be taken?

If automatic renewal is enabled, we'll normally make the first attempt to collect your renewal premium 7 days before your policy expires.

What if the first payment fails?

If we cannot collect the payment:

  • We'll email you to let you know.

  • You'll have an opportunity to check your payment details or pay manually.

  • We'll make a further automatic payment attempt before your policy expires.

If the first attempt is unsuccessful, we'll normally try again 3 days before your policy expires.

If we still cannot collect the renewal premium, we'll contact you again.

Important: Your renewal is not complete until the renewal premium has been successfully paid. If payment cannot be collected, make sure you complete your renewal before your existing policy expires to avoid a gap in cover.

What if my bank card has expired or been replaced?

An expired card does not necessarily prevent automatic renewal.

When you purchased your policy, you authorised a continuous payment authority, which may allow renewal payments to be collected even where the original card has expired or been replaced.

However, payment is not guaranteed, so you should check your renewal communications and make sure your payment details are current.

If we cannot collect your payment, we'll contact you.

How do I turn automatic renewal off?

You can opt out of automatic renewal:

  • When purchasing your policy.

  • Through your Customer Zone.

  • Through the options provided with your renewal invitation.

  • By emailing [email protected].

  • By calling 0203 137 8981.

Turning automatic renewal off does not cancel your current policy. Your existing cover continues until its scheduled expiry date, subject to the policy terms.

Can I turn automatic renewal back on?

Yes.

If you've previously opted out, you may be able to switch automatic renewal back on.

However, re-enabling automatic renewal does not by itself complete a renewal that is already due. If payment is required, you'll need to complete the renewal payment before the policy can renew.

Can I make changes when renewing my policy?

Yes.

Renewal is an opportunity to check that your policy still meets your needs.

Update your personal details

You should review details such as:

  • Your home address.

  • Your contact details.

  • Any other personal information that has changed.

Change your cover

Depending on the options available, you may be able to change:

  • Your level of cover.

  • Your geographical area.

  • Optional upgrades or additional cover.

Changes may affect your renewal premium.

Add or remove insured people

You may also be able to change who is insured when your policy renews.

Removing someone

Someone can be removed from the renewed policy where the main policyholder authorises the change.

Adding someone

You may be able to add another insured person, subject to the eligibility requirements that apply to them.

This may include their:

  • Age.

  • Medical history.

  • Pre-existing medical conditions.

  • Other policy eligibility requirements.

Please contact CoverForYou if you need help changing the people included on your renewal.

Do I need to review my medical conditions at renewal?

Yes.

You should review the medical information for everyone insured on the policy before renewing and tell us about any conditions that need to be declared.

This includes:

  • New medical conditions.

  • Changes to previously declared conditions.

  • New medication, treatment, surgery, tests or investigations that fall within the policy's medical declaration requirements.

Do not assume that the medical information provided for your previous policy is still complete or correct for the renewed policy.

Failure to declare a pre-existing medical condition where required could result in a claim being reduced or refused.

If you need help with a medical declaration, contact our Medical Screening Team:

Telephone: 0203 137 8981
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm UK time.

Will my renewal premium be the same as last year?

Not necessarily.

Your renewal premium may change because of factors such as:

  • Your age.

  • Changes to medical conditions.

  • Changes to your level or geographical area of cover.

  • Optional upgrades.

  • Changes to the people insured.

  • Other factors affecting the price of the policy.

Your renewal invitation will confirm the premium that applies to the new period of insurance.

What happens if I don't renew before my policy expires?

If your policy reaches its expiry date without being renewed, you may need to purchase a new policy if you still require travel insurance.

This could also create a gap in cover, so you should complete your renewal before the existing policy ends.

You can get a new travel insurance quote if required.

Will I receive an offer to buy a new policy?

If your Annual Multi-Trip policy expires without being renewed, we may send you an email containing a link to purchase a new policy.

Depending on the offer available at the time, this may include:

  • A returning customer discount.

  • A discount based on eligible CoverForYou Plus loyalty benefits.

Any offer or discount will be subject to the terms provided at the time.

What if something happens around my renewal date?

If an incident occurs around your renewal date, whether a cancellation claim is covered will depend on the circumstances, the dates of the policies and whether your renewal is successfully completed.

If you booked your trip while your previous Annual Multi-Trip policy was active and an incident occurs around the renewal date, please contact us so the circumstances can be reviewed.

Do not rely on this as an extension of cover after your policy expires. Renew before the expiry date wherever possible to avoid a gap in protection.

How can I manage my renewal?

You can manage your policy through your Customer Zone:

  1. Visit the CoverForYou Customer Zone.

  2. Select your Annual Multi-Trip policy.

  3. Review the available renewal or policy-management options.

  4. Check that your details are correct before completing your renewal.

If you need help renewing, updating your details or managing automatic renewal, please contact CoverForYou.

Important: All cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, cover limits and any applicable excess.
