Q: Can I still buy a policy if I already have another insurance policy in place for the same trip?
A: Yes, you can still purchase a policy from us if you already hold another travel insurance plan. However, before you do, please review how our policies handle dual coverage:
1. Coverage Does Not "Stack"
Our travel insurance policies are structured to act as your sole provider for your trip. They do not blend, combine, or "stack" benefits with another insurer. Having two active policies for the exact same journey will not double your payout limits and may result in a complex claims process, meaning it does not offer optimal financial value.
2. When Does It Not Count as Dual Insurance?
The dual insurance rule only applies if both policies cover the exact same trip.
Example: If you have a European annual travel policy through your bank, but you purchase a separate Single Trip policy from us to travel to the USA, this is not dual insurance. Because your bank policy does not cover the USA, our policy safely acts as your sole insurer for that specific holiday.
3. Dual Insurance vs. Duplicate Policies
It is important to understand the legal difference if you are looking to cancel a policy:
Duplicate Policies (With Us): If you accidentally buy two identical, "like-for-like" policies directly from our brand for the same trip, we will gladly look into this and refund the accidental duplicate purchase.
Dual Policies (With Different Providers): If you buy a policy from us but realize you already hold a live travel insurance policy with a completely different company, we are not obligated to issue a refund outside of our standard terms.
💡 What should you do?
If you realize you have dual cover with another provider, we highly recommend checking if your other policy is still within its statutory 14-day cooling-off period to see if you can cancel that one for a full refund. If you still wish to cancel our policy instead, it will be processed under our standard cancellation terms and conditions.
Please note: All cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, and any applicable excess.
