Why does my policy say "Void" after updating my medical information?

Find out why your CoverForYou policy may show as Void after an incomplete medical declaration, what this means for your insurance and how to restore your cover.

If your CoverForYou policy shows a "Void" status after updating your medical information online, it may mean that your medical declaration was started but not fully completed.

This can happen if you make changes to your medical information during your 14-day cooling-off period but leave the process before completing the final confirmation or payment steps.

Important: While your policy is showing as Void, your insurance cover is not active. You should not travel or assume you are covered until the issue has been resolved and your cover has been confirmed.

Why has my policy been marked as Void?

When you update your medical declaration online, you must complete all the required steps to confirm your updated medical information.

If you leave the process incomplete, our system automatically places your policy into a temporary Void status.

This is a precautionary measure because your updated medical circumstances have not yet been fully assessed or confirmed.

For example, this may happen if you:

  • Start updating an existing medical condition but don't finish the process.

  • Add a new medical condition without completing the declaration.

  • Leave the medical screening before confirming the changes.

  • Do not complete a required payment or final checkout step.

Please note: A Void status in these circumstances does not necessarily mean you've requested to cancel your policy.

How do I reactivate my policy?

You must contact our team to resolve the Void status.

There are two options available, depending on whether you wish to keep or cancel your policy.

Option 1 – Complete Your Medical Declaration and Keep Your Policy

If you'd like to keep your existing policy, our team can help you complete the outstanding medical screening.

This may involve:

  1. Reviewing your medical information and completing any outstanding declarations.

  2. Confirming your eligibility based on your updated medical circumstances.

  3. Arranging any additional premium payment, if your medical changes affect the cost of your insurance.

  4. Reactivating your policy, provided the required criteria are met.

Where your updated medical circumstances are accepted and any required payment is completed, we can arrange for your policy to be reactivated.

Important: Reactivation is subject to the relevant medical screening and eligibility requirements. It cannot be guaranteed until your updated information has been assessed.

Option 2 – Cancel Your Policy

If you no longer wish to continue with your policy or complete the updated medical screening, our team can help you formally cancel it.

Any refund you're entitled to will be assessed and processed in accordance with your policy's cancellation terms and conditions.

Please note: An incomplete medical declaration does not automatically complete a formal cancellation request. You must contact us to finalise the cancellation.

Am I covered while my policy shows as Void?

No. You are not insured while your policy is in a Void status.

Until the issue has been resolved and your cover is confirmed as active:

  • You should not assume you are covered for upcoming travel.

  • You will not be protected for new claims arising while your cover is inactive.

  • You should not rely on your existing policy documents as confirmation of active insurance.

If you're due to travel soon, contact us immediately so we can review your policy before departure.

Who should I contact?

If your policy is showing as Void after a medical declaration update, please contact our customer service team as soon as possible.

Our team can review your policy, explain what needs to be completed and help you with the next steps.
