Why Is My Policy Showing as Void After Updating My Medical Information?

Find out why a CoverForYou policy may show as Void after an incomplete medical update and what you need to do to restore or cancel the policy.

Why is my policy showing as Void after updating my medical information?

If your CoverForYou policy shows a Void status after you started updating your medical information online, it may mean that the medical update was not fully completed.

This can happen if you begin changing your medical declaration but leave the process before completing all required steps.

Important: If your policy is showing as Void, do not assume that you have active cover. Contact CoverForYou before travelling so we can confirm the status of your insurance.

Why can an incomplete medical update affect my policy?

When you make changes to your policy, you must provide accurate and complete information.

A medical update may also require:

  • Further medical screening.

  • Confirmation that the updated condition can be accepted.

  • Changes to the terms of your cover.

  • An additional premium.

  • Final confirmation of the amendment.

If the process is left incomplete, the policy may show as Void until the outstanding medical update has been resolved.

This may happen if you:

  • Start updating an existing medical condition but do not complete the process.

  • Add a new medical condition without finishing the medical screening.

  • Leave the online journey before confirming your changes.

  • Do not complete an additional payment where one is required.

A Void status in these circumstances does not necessarily mean that you deliberately cancelled your policy.

What should I do if my policy is showing as Void?

Please contact CoverForYou so we can review the policy and confirm what is outstanding.

You will normally need to decide whether you want to:

  1. Complete the medical update and continue with the policy; or

  2. Cancel the policy.

How do I complete my medical update and keep the policy?

If you want to keep the policy, our team can review the outstanding medical information.

This may involve:

  1. Completing any unanswered medical screening questions.

  2. Reviewing the new or changed medical condition.

  3. Confirming whether the condition can be covered.

  4. Confirming any changes to the policy terms.

  5. Paying any additional premium that may be required.

  6. Confirming that the policy is active once the amendment has been completed.

Completing the medical screening does not guarantee that a new or changed medical condition can be covered.

Any amendment is subject to the applicable eligibility and medical-screening requirements.

Can I cancel the policy instead?

Yes.

If you do not want to complete the medical update or no longer require the policy, you can request cancellation.

Any refund will depend on the cancellation terms that apply to your policy.

If you are within the applicable 14-day cancellation period, different refund terms may apply compared with cancelling later.

Please contact CoverForYou so the cancellation can be completed correctly.

Am I covered while my policy shows as Void?

You should not rely on a policy showing as Void as confirmation that you are insured.

Until CoverForYou has reviewed the policy and confirmed that cover is active:

  • Do not assume you are covered for upcoming travel.

  • Do not rely on your previous policy documents as evidence that the medical amendment has been accepted.

  • Contact us before travelling.

If you are due to travel soon, please contact us as soon as possible.
