Understanding Our Golf Cover Add-On

Explains how playing casual golf is covered as standard, what protections the optional Golf Cover add-on unlocks for expensive equipment and green fees, and the essential paperwork needed for claims.

Please note: All cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, and any applicable excess. Full details can be found in the policy wording.

Q: Do I need a special add-on to play golf on my trip, and what does Golf Cover include?

A: No, you do not need a special add-on just to play a casual round of golf. Participating in golf as an activity is covered as standard under your basic policy at no extra premium.

However, your standard policy does not fully protect high-value golf gear or pre-paid booking fees. For that complete protection, you must purchase our optional Golf Cover add-on (which will be explicitly displayed on your policy schedule).

1. Core Definitions

  • Golf Equipment: This includes your golf clubs, golf balls, golf bags, golf shoes, and non-motorized pull-trolleys.

2. What is Covered under the Golf Upgrade?

If you pay the additional premium for the Golf Cover add-on, you are protected against the following specific losses:

  • Loss, Theft, or Damage to Gear: Covers accidental loss, theft, or damage to your personally owned golf equipment. If you are using hired golf gear instead, cover is safely provided up to the specific lower limit stated on your certificate.

  • Emergency Equipment Rental: If your own clubs are lost, stolen, or damaged—including if your golf bag is temporarily delayed or misplaced in transit by your airline for more than 24 hours—the policy will reimburse the necessary costs to hire emergency replacement golf clubs so you don't miss out on your game.

  • Unused Green Fees: Reimburses you for your pre-paid, non-refundable green fees if an unexpected emergency (such as a covered illness or injury) prevents you from playing. These claims are evaluated on a fair, case-by-case basis.

  • The Golf Bag Single Item Rule: If your entire golf bag is lost or stolen, each individual golf club inside the bag is treated as a separate single item when calculating your payout against the table of benefits, rather than treating the whole bag as one single article.

3. What is Strictly Not Covered?

Your golf equipment claim will be refused under any of the following circumstances:

  • Unattended Vehicles: You cannot claim for golf equipment stolen from an unattended vehicle unless the gear was locked completely out of sight inside a secure baggage area (such as a locked boot, a locked luggage box attached to a roof rack, or a fixed storage unit inside a motorized caravan). There must be clear physical evidence of forced, unauthorized entry.

  • Customs and Transit Delays: Any damage or losses caused by the delay, confiscation, or detention of your clubs by customs officers or other border authorities.

  • General Market Reductions: Financial losses due to everyday gear depreciation (loss in value over time), wear and tear, or shifting bank exchange rates.

  • Lack of Evidence: Any claim where you cannot provide formal documentation or receipts to prove your financial loss.

Checklist of Required Claims Evidence

If you have purchased this upgrade and need to submit a golf claim through your online Customer Zone, you must provide the following paperwork where relevant:

  • An official Police Report or incident report from the local authorities if your gear was stolen while abroad.

  • A Property Irregularity Report (PIR) from the airline or an official carrier letter if your clubs were lost or damaged while in the custody of a transit company.

  • A formal letter from your hotel, accommodation provider, or tour operator representative if the incident occurred on their premises.

  • All original travel tickets and luggage tags.

  • Proof of Ownership for your lost or damaged gear (such as original store receipts, specialist valuations, or bank/credit card statements).

  • A professional repair report if your golf clubs were damaged.
