Some mobile apps, including the CoverForYou TravelMate app, need permission to access your device's microphone so you can make voice calls or use features that require audio.
If you've previously denied microphone access, you can enable it through your phone's settings.
Follow the instructions below for your device.
If you're using an Apple iPhone, follow these steps:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Scroll down and select Privacy & Security.
Tap Microphone.
Find the app you want to use in the list.
Turn the switch on to allow microphone access.
Return to the app and try using the microphone again.
Tip: You can also find an app's individual settings by opening Settings → Apps, selecting the app and checking whether a Microphone permission is available.
Apple Support: Managing microphone permissions
If you're using an Android phone, such as a Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel, follow these steps:
Open your phone's Settings app.
Select Apps.
Find and select the app you want to use.
Tap Permissions.
Select Microphone.
Choose Allow only while using the app.
Return to the app and try using the microphone again.
The exact menu names may vary slightly depending on your phone's manufacturer and Android version.
Google Support: Changing app permissions
If you cannot find the app in your microphone settings, it may not have requested access yet.
Try the following:
Open the app.
Start a feature that requires microphone access, such as making a voice call.
If your phone displays a permission request, select Allow.
Return to your microphone settings if you need to check or change the permission.
Important: On some devices, an app will not appear in the microphone permissions list until it has requested access for the first time.
If you've enabled microphone access but the app still cannot hear you, try these troubleshooting steps.
Completely close the app, then open it again and retry the microphone feature.
If you're making a call, check that the microphone hasn't been muted within the app.
If you're connected to Bluetooth headphones, earphones or another audio device, your phone may be using that device's microphone.
Try disconnecting Bluetooth and testing again.
On some Android devices, microphone access can be disabled for all apps.
Check that Microphone access is enabled in your phone's privacy settings or Quick Settings panel.
Restarting your device may resolve temporary permission or audio issues.
Check the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for any available updates.
The CoverForYou TravelMate app allows you to make calls over the internet to our customer service, claims and emergency medical assistance teams.
To make these calls, the app needs permission to use your phone's microphone so the person you're speaking to can hear you.
You'll also need an active Wi-Fi or mobile data connection, as these calls use the internet rather than your normal mobile phone network.
