What Is Considered a Trip?

Understand how a trip is defined under your travel insurance policy, including requirements for overseas and UK travel.

What is considered a trip?

For the purposes of your travel insurance policy, a trip is a period of time spent away from your home on pre-booked business or leisure travel.

Trips outside the UK

For trips outside the UK, your trip must start and end in your home area.

Trips within the UK

If you have an Annual Multi-Trip or Multi-Trip policy, a trip within the UK must include either:

  • At least 2 nights of pre-booked accommodation; or

  • Pre-booked transport at least 50 miles from your home.

Single Trip policies

If you have a Single Trip policy, cover applies for the period of the trip shown on your policy schedule, provided the trip does not exceed that period.

Important: All cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, cover limits and any applicable excess.
