Yes.
You can purchase a CoverForYou travel insurance policy even if you already have travel insurance with another provider.
However, having two policies covering the same trip does not mean you can receive double payment for the same loss.
If another insurance policy is in force covering the same risk, CoverForYou will only be required to pay a proportionate amount of the claim.
You must tell us about any other insurance that may cover the same loss.
This means:
You cannot receive duplicate compensation for the same loss.
The insurers may need to establish how the claim should be shared.
You may need to provide details of your other insurance when making a claim.
Having more than one policy does not automatically increase the amount you can recover for the same financial loss.
Yes.
If your existing travel insurance does not cover the destination you are visiting, you may purchase a CoverForYou policy that provides the geographical cover you need.
You have travel insurance through your bank that only covers Europe, but you are travelling to the USA.
You could purchase a CoverForYou policy with the appropriate geographical area for your USA trip.
Before purchasing additional insurance, check:
The geographical area covered by your existing policy.
The maximum trip duration.
Medical-condition requirements.
Benefit limits.
Optional cover such as Winter Sports, Cruise or Travel Disruption Cover.
If you believe you have accidentally purchased two CoverForYou policies for the same trip, please contact us before cancelling either policy.
For example, this could happen if:
You accidentally complete the same purchase twice.
You purchase another policy because you did not realise the first payment was successful.
You receive two policy confirmations for the same intended cover.
We can review the policies and explain the available cancellation or refund options.
If you purchase a CoverForYou policy and later realise you already have suitable travel insurance elsewhere, you can request to cancel your CoverForYou policy.
Having another travel insurance policy does not automatically entitle you to a CoverForYou refund.
Any refund will depend on the cancellation terms that apply to your policy.
You can manage your policy through your Customer Zone:
Sign in to your Customer Zone.
Find the policy you want to cancel.
Select More → Change or Cancel Your Policy.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
You can also contact CoverForYou for assistance.
For a Single Trip policy:
If you cancel within 14 days of purchasing the policy or receiving the policy documents, you can receive a full refund provided you have not travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim.
If you cancel after this period, you may receive 50% of the premium paid, provided you have not travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim.
For an Annual Multi-Trip policy:
If you cancel within 14 days of purchase, renewal or receiving the policy documents, you can receive a full refund provided you have not travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim.
After this period, a proportional refund may be available based on the number of complete months remaining, provided you are not currently on a trip and have not made or intend to make a claim.
Before purchasing additional cover, check whether your existing insurance already meets your needs.
Consider:
Geographical cover: Does it include every destination on your trip?
Trip duration: Does it cover the full length of your journey?
Medical conditions: Have all relevant medical conditions been declared and accepted where required?
Benefit limits: Are the limits suitable for your trip?
Activities and upgrades: Are any planned activities or additional covers included?
If your existing policy does not provide the cover you need, purchasing a separate policy may be appropriate.
If you are unsure whether another policy overlaps with your CoverForYou insurance, or think you have accidentally purchased duplicate CoverForYou cover, please contact CoverForYou.
Important: All cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, cover limits and any applicable excess.
