Yes. You are automatically covered while travelling on a cruise, subject to the standard terms and conditions of your travel insurance policy.
The optional Cruise Cover upgrade provides additional cruise-specific benefits.
For these enhanced benefits to apply:
Cruise Cover must be shown on your policy schedule.
The upgrade must have been added before the incident that leads to a claim.
Depending on your level of cover, the upgrade can provide additional protection for:
Missing your initial cruise departure.
Missing the ship after a trip ashore.
A scheduled port being cancelled.
Cabin confinement because of a covered accident or illness.
Increased baggage and valuables limits.
Unused pre-booked excursions following covered cabin confinement.
The applicable limits are shown in your Table of Benefits.
Cruise Cover can help with reasonable additional costs to rejoin your cruise if you fail to arrive at the initial departure point in time because of:
Failure of other public transport.
An accident to or breakdown of the vehicle you are travelling in.
An accident, breakdown or unexpected traffic incident causing an unexpected delay.
Adverse weather.
Strike.
Cover can include reasonable additional:
Room-only accommodation.
Economy public transport costs.
These costs are covered up to the applicable limit so that you can rejoin the cruise.
You must allow at least 3 hours between your planned arrival at the port and the scheduled sailing departure time.
There is no cover for a missed departure caused by terrorism, war, a pandemic or regional quarantine.
Cruise Cover can also help if you arrive back at the port too late to rejoin your cruise following a trip ashore because of one of the covered causes, such as:
Public transport failure.
A vehicle accident or breakdown.
An unexpected traffic incident.
Adverse weather.
Strike.
Eligible additional room-only accommodation and economy public transport costs can be covered so that you can rejoin the ship, subject to the policy limits and conditions.
A benefit can be payable if, after your cruise has started, a scheduled port visit is cancelled because of:
Adverse weather; or
Timetable restrictions.
For cover to apply, the cruise operator must not be able to offer an alternative port.
The benefit is paid per eligible missed port, subject to the per-port and total limits shown in your Table of Benefits.
There is no cover for an itinerary change arising directly or indirectly from:
Strike or industrial action.
You failing to attend the port visit shown on your itinerary.
Mechanical or operational failure of the ship's tender or another boat used to take passengers ashore.
A change of itinerary where the cruise operator has provided monetary compensation, including onboard credit.
You may also need confirmation from the cruise operator explaining why the scheduled port visit was cancelled.
Cruise Cover can provide a benefit if you are confined to your cabin because of an accident or illness that is covered under Section 2 – Medical Emergency and Repatriation Expenses.
The amount payable is subject to the per-24-hour and total limits shown in your Table of Benefits.
If an accident, illness or disease results in admission to the ship's medical centre or hospital as an in-patient, you must tell the Emergency Medical Assistance Service as soon as possible.
You must also contact the Emergency Medical Assistance Service before arrangements are made for your repatriation.
Cruise Cover can cover eligible unused pre-booked excursions that you cannot use because you are confined to your cabin following an accident or illness covered under the Medical Emergency and Repatriation section.
Cover is subject to the applicable limit shown in your Table of Benefits.

If your baggage is accidentally lost, damaged or stolen during your trip, the Cruise Cover upgrade increases the baggage and valuables limits available under Section 4 – Personal Belongings and Money.

Your tour operator's booking invoice or other evidence of your trip.
Confirmation of a public transport delay.
Confirmation from the carrier of the reason and length of a delay.
Confirmation of a vehicle breakdown.
Evidence of your vehicle's service or MOT history where relevant.
Confirmation that privately booked accommodation cannot be refunded.
Confirmation from the cruise operator explaining why a scheduled port was cancelled.
Confirmation from the ship's medical officer of the reason and length of any cabin confinement.
