Do I Need Golf Cover to Play Golf?

Find out when golf is covered as standard and what additional benefits the optional Golf Cover upgrade provides.

Do I need Golf Cover just to play golf?

No.

You are automatically covered to play golf recreationally under the standard sports and activities cover, subject to the policy terms and conditions.

The optional Golf Cover upgrade provides additional protection for:

  • Golf equipment.

For these additional benefits to apply, Golf Cover must be shown on your policy schedule and the additional premium must have been paid.

The policy defines golf equipment as:

  • Golf clubs.

  • Golf balls.

  • Golf bag.

  • Golf shoes.

  • Non-motorised golf trolley.

What does the Golf Cover upgrade include?

Golf equipment

Cover can apply to the accidental loss, theft or damage of your own golf equipment.

Hired golf equipment can also be covered, subject to the separate limit shown in your Table of Benefits.

Emergency replacement golf equipment hire

The policy can contribute towards the cost of hiring emergency replacement golf equipment if your own equipment is:

  • Lost.

  • Stolen.

  • Damaged.

  • Temporarily lost in transit for more than 24 hours.

The amount payable is subject to the applicable per-24-hour and total limits shown in your Table of Benefits.

Unused green fees

Cover can apply to eligible unused green fees, subject to the per-24-hour and total limits shown in your Table of Benefits.

What if my golf equipment is stolen?

You must report any theft to the police in the country where it happened as soon as possible and obtain a crime reference number or incident report.

If your golf equipment is lost, stolen or damaged while in the care of a carrier, transport company, authority, hotel or accommodation provider, you must also report the incident and obtain a written record.

You may be asked to provide evidence such as:

  • Proof of ownership or purchase.

  • A Property Irregularity Report or carrier confirmation where relevant.

  • Travel tickets and baggage tags.

  • A repair report where applicable.

What isn't covered?

Golf Cover does not cover:

  • Golf equipment left unattended.

  • Equipment stolen from an unattended vehicle unless it is locked out of sight in a secure baggage area and entry has been gained by unauthorised access.

  • Loss or damage caused by delay, confiscation or detention by customs or another authority.

  • Loss or damage due to depreciation or changes in exchange rates.

  • Mechanical or electrical breakdown.

  • Anything excluded under the general exclusions applying to the policy.

What about golf competitions?

Golf is included as a standard recreational activity, but the policy does not cover participation in sports professionally, while racing or during a competition.

If you are travelling specifically to take part in a golf tournament or competition, contact CoverForYou before travelling to check whether your planned activity is covered.
