What Cover Do I Have If My Flight Is Delayed?

Find out when delayed departure cover may apply, what costs it is designed to help with and how Trip Disruption Cover can affect your protection.

What cover do I have if my flight is delayed?

Delayed arrival cover can apply if you arrive at your destination more than 12 hours later than planned because of a delay to public transport at the final departure point to or from the UK.

The policy can provide:

  • A benefit for each eligible period of delay, up to the maximum shown in your Table of Benefits, to help with costs such as telephone calls, meals and refreshments.

  • A proportion of unused travel and accommodation costs, subject to your policy limits.

There is no cover under this benefit where the delay is caused by:

  • Terrorism.

  • War.

  • A pandemic.

  • Regional quarantine.

What if I have Travel Disruption Cover?

If you have purchased the optional Travel Disruption Cover, additional circumstances may be covered.

Your policy schedule will show whether this upgrade is included.

What if the delay means my policy expires before I get home?

Please see:

Important: All cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, cover limits and any applicable excess.
