You may need to declare anaemia when purchasing CoverForYou travel insurance, depending on when you last had the condition, how you purchased your policy and whether you're currently receiving treatment.
The declaration requirements differ between Direct policies and most other policies.
You must declare anaemia if either of the following applies:
You've had anaemia within the relevant look-back period.
You're currently taking prescribed medication or receiving treatment for anaemia.
Policy Type | Declaration Requirement |
|---|---|
CoverForYou Direct | Declare anaemia if you've had it within the last 1 year. |
Most other policies | Declare anaemia if you've had it within the last 2 years. |
These periods apply to previous episodes of anaemia. You must still declare anaemia if you're currently receiving prescribed medication or treatment, even if you were first diagnosed longer ago.
Check the medical screening questions applicable to your policy if you're unsure which requirement applies.
If you've recovered from anaemia, are no longer receiving treatment and haven't had the condition within the applicable look-back period, you would not normally need to declare anaemia under these specific screening rules.
However, any other medical conditions that require declaration must still be disclosed.
You must declare anaemia if you're currently taking prescribed medication or receiving treatment for it, regardless of when you were first diagnosed.
This includes prescribed treatment intended to manage an ongoing anaemia condition.
Whether cover is available will depend on the outcome of medical screening.
If you've been referred for investigations to establish the cause of anaemia or another suspected medical condition, contact us before purchasing your policy.
Different eligibility requirements may apply where medical investigations are outstanding or a condition remains undiagnosed.
