Not always. Whether you need to declare fertility tests or treatment depends on the reason for the investigations and whether an underlying medical condition is suspected or has been diagnosed.
Do I need to declare routine fertility tests?
If you're undergoing fertility tests and:
The tests are not related to a known underlying medical condition.
Your doctors do not suspect that an underlying medical condition is causing the fertility difficulties.
You do not need to declare the fertility tests themselves, and CoverForYou can offer you a travel insurance quotation, subject to our normal eligibility requirements.
You must still declare any other medical conditions that meet our medical screening requirements.
What if my doctor suspects an underlying medical condition?
If your doctor suspects that an underlying medical condition may be causing fertility difficulties, and further investigations or treatment are planned, CoverForYou is not a suitable insurance provider at this stage.
Possible underlying causes can include hormonal or endocrine disorders and other medical conditions.
Once your investigations are complete and your medical circumstances are established, you can contact us to check whether insurance is available.
Any diagnosed medical condition may need to be declared during medical screening.
Can I Get Travel Insurance If I'm Awaiting a Diagnosis?
What if I'm travelling abroad for fertility treatment?
CoverForYou travel insurance is not designed to pay for planned fertility treatment or investigations abroad.
The policy excludes claims under specified sections arising directly or indirectly from travelling to receive planned medical treatment, surgery or investigations, including related complications.
What if I've already purchased my policy?
If you begin new fertility investigations, receive a diagnosis or experience a change in your health after purchasing your policy, contact us to check whether your cover may be affected.
