Yes. You must declare dementia and other relevant progressive medical conditions when purchasing CoverForYou travel insurance.
These conditions must be assessed through medical screening to establish whether cover can be offered.
Having a progressive medical condition does not automatically mean you cannot obtain travel insurance.
Examples include:
Dementia: Including Alzheimer's disease and other diagnosed forms of dementia.
Progressive neurological conditions: Such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis.
Other progressive diseases: Diagnosed conditions that may worsen over time.
These examples are not an exhaustive list.
You must also declare any other pre-existing medical conditions required by your medical screening questions.
Possibly.
Whether cover is available will depend on your circumstances and the outcome of medical screening.
Depending on the assessment:
Cover may be available.
An additional premium or specific terms may apply.
We may be unable to offer cover.
If we offer you a quotation following medical screening, it will reflect the cover available and any additional premium required.
Once you've purchased the policy, your declared and accepted medical conditions will be covered in accordance with the policy terms and any applicable exclusions.
If you're undergoing investigations for suspected dementia or another progressive medical condition but haven't received a confirmed diagnosis, different eligibility restrictions may apply.
Contact our Medical Screening Team before purchasing.
Can I Get Travel Insurance If I'm Awaiting a Diagnosis?
If your condition progresses, your medication changes or you require additional treatment after purchasing your policy, contact us to check whether your cover may be affected.
A change in health does not automatically invalidate your policy, but it may affect the cover available for the condition concerned.
You should also check with your medical practitioner that you're fit to travel.
