Yes. You must declare Down's syndrome and other relevant diagnosed syndromes when purchasing CoverForYou travel insurance.
Declaring the condition allows us to assess your circumstances through medical screening and establish whether cover is available.
Having a diagnosed syndrome does not automatically mean you cannot obtain travel insurance.
Relevant diagnosed syndromes include:
Down's syndrome.
Fragile X syndrome.
Prader–Willi syndrome (PWS).
Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
Other relevant diagnosed syndromes.
This is not an exhaustive list.
If you're unsure whether your diagnosis needs declaring, contact our Medical Screening Team.
Potentially, yes.
Whether we can offer cover will depend on your individual circumstances and the outcome of medical screening.
Depending on the assessment:
Cover may be available.
An additional premium or specific terms may apply.
We may be unable to offer cover.
If we can offer cover, your quotation will reflect any additional premium and applicable terms. Once you've purchased the policy, your declared and accepted conditions will be covered in accordance with those terms.
No separate written approval is required after purchasing the policy on the terms quoted.
If you're undergoing investigations for a suspected syndrome or another medical condition and haven't received a confirmed diagnosis, different eligibility restrictions may apply.
Under our general medical screening guidance, we may be unable to offer a new policy while investigations remain outstanding.
Contact our Medical Screening Team before purchasing.
Can I Get Travel Insurance If I'm Awaiting a Diagnosis?
If you have other diagnosed medical conditions alongside a syndrome, these may also need to be declared.
Answer all relevant questions about associated conditions, prescribed medication and ongoing treatment accurately.
Declaring one condition does not automatically mean that every other medical condition has been assessed.
If you receive a new diagnosis, your medication changes or your medical circumstances change after buying your policy, contact us to check whether your cover may be affected.
