Am I Covered If I Contract an STI or STD While Travelling?

Understand how emergency medical cover and Personal Liability apply if you contract a sexually transmitted infection while abroad.

Am I covered if I contract an STI or STD while travelling?

If you unexpectedly contract a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or sexually transmitted disease (STD) while travelling, emergency medical expenses may be covered under the policy.

Cover would be subject to the normal terms and conditions of the Medical Emergency and Repatriation Expenses section, including any relevant pre-existing medical condition rules.

Does Personal Liability cover apply?

No.

The Personal Liability section does not cover compensation or legal costs arising directly or indirectly from the transmission of any contagious or infectious disease or virus.

This means Personal Liability cover would not apply to a claim made against you for transmitting an STI or STD to another person.

Important: All cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, cover limits and any applicable excess.
