If you were experiencing symptoms of a medical condition before purchasing your travel insurance but had not yet sought medical advice or received a diagnosis, CoverForYou cannot offer cover at that stage.
Our medical eligibility requirements mean that medical conditions must be fully diagnosed before we can assess them through medical screening.
What if I had symptoms but hadn't seen a doctor?
If you were experiencing unexplained symptoms before purchasing your policy, you should seek appropriate medical advice before applying for travel insurance.
For example, this may apply if you:
Have been experiencing unexplained pain or other symptoms.
Have noticed a new lump, growth or unexplained change in your health.
Have symptoms of a possible medical condition but have not yet consulted a medical professional.
You should not assume that unexplained symptoms are covered simply because you haven't received a formal diagnosis.
Can I apply once I've received a diagnosis?
Yes. Once your symptoms have been investigated and your medical circumstances established, you can contact us to check whether insurance is available.
You may need to declare the condition and complete medical screening.
Any cover offered will depend on the screening outcome and applicable policy conditions.
Can I Get Travel Insurance If I Am Awaiting a Diagnosis?
What if I already bought my policy?
If you purchased your insurance while experiencing symptoms that you had not sought medical advice for, contact CoverForYou as soon as possible.
We can review your circumstances and explain whether your cover may be affected.
Do not assume that an existing policy automatically covers a medical condition simply because it had not been diagnosed when you purchased it.
What if my symptoms only started after I bought my policy?
Different considerations apply if you developed new symptoms after purchasing your insurance.
A change in health does not automatically invalidate an existing policy, but you should check whether it affects your cover and fitness to travel.
