What happens if I develop new symptoms after buying my policy?
If you start experiencing a new symptom, or a new set of symptoms, after you have purchased your policy, cover can continue for any subsequent diagnosis of a new medical condition automatically and without an additional premium.
The position depends on your policy type.
Single Trip and Backpacker policies
If the new symptoms begin after you purchased your policy, cover can continue until the policy expiry date.
Annual Multi-Trip policies
If the new symptoms begin after you purchased your policy, cover can continue until your renewal date.
However, this does not mean that every new trip you book afterwards will automatically be covered.
What if I book a new trip after my health changes?
There is no cover for a newly booked trip where, at the time of booking, you are already aware of circumstances that could reasonably be expected to lead to a claim.
For example, if you have been declared not fit to fly because of your new medical condition and then book a new trip, there would be no cancellation cover for that newly booked trip if you cannot travel because of that condition.
What if I already had the symptoms before buying my policy?
If you were already aware of the symptoms before purchasing your policy, please see:
What happens if I forgot to declare my medical conditions when I applied for insurance?
Important: All cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, cover limits and any applicable excess.
