Can I Get Travel Insurance If I’m Awaiting Treatment or Surgery?

Find out when cover may be available if you are awaiting treatment, surgery, test results or a diagnosis.

Can I get travel insurance if I’m awaiting treatment or surgery?

Yes, in some circumstances.

If your condition has been fully diagnosed and can be declared through our medical screening system, we may be able to offer cover.

However, if you are awaiting treatment or surgery, any cover offered may exclude cancellation and curtailment claims arising directly or indirectly from that treatment or surgery.

How does this work?

Fully diagnosed condition

If your condition has been fully diagnosed, you may be able to obtain cover after completing the medical screening process.

Any terms, exclusions or additional premium resulting from the screening will be confirmed to you.

Awaiting test results or a diagnosis

If you have been referred for investigations and are still awaiting test results or a diagnosis, we are unable to provide cover for the undiagnosed condition.

You should wait until the investigations are complete and a diagnosis has been confirmed before completing medical screening for that condition.

Awaiting treatment or surgery

If you already have a confirmed diagnosis but are awaiting treatment or surgery, cover may still be available if the condition can be declared and accepted through our medical screening system.

However, cancellation and curtailment cover relating directly or indirectly to the planned treatment or surgery may be excluded.

Important: All cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, cover limits and any applicable excess.
