What Emergency Medical Expenses Does My Travel Insurance Cover?

Find out which emergency medical, dental, hospital and repatriation expenses may be covered abroad, including hospital benefits, pet-care allowances and assistance arrangements.

Under the current CoverForYou Direct travel insurance policy, you have up to £15 million per insured person, per trip for eligible emergency medical and other expenses.

This can include necessary medical treatment, hospital care, emergency dental treatment and medically necessary repatriation following an unforeseen illness, injury, disease or personal quarantine during your trip.

Some benefits have separate financial limits, and all expenses must meet your policy's terms and conditions.

What emergency medical treatment is covered?

Under Section 2 – Medical Emergency and Repatriation Expenses, eligible costs incurred outside your home area can include:

  • Emergency medical treatment: Treatment for an unexpected illness, injury or disease.

  • Hospital treatment: Necessary hospital admission, surgery and associated medical charges.

  • Ambulance services: Eligible emergency ambulance and medical transport costs.

  • Medical fees: Necessary charges from medical professionals treating your condition.

  • Emergency dental treatment: Treatment required for the immediate relief of pain.
